Google is one of the most famous search engines in the world. Most of the countries have their own search engines but countries which doesn’t has their own search engine, are using google only. But there are few less known Google search engines which you might have not heard till now. Today we are going to talk about those lesser known google search engines or services provided by google which can give you better search results.

Google Scholar

If you are a student and looking for study material or wanted to conduct a research for your study projects then you should know about Google Scholar search engine. According to its name, Google Scholar Search Engine is designed to help students. It can help students to conduct their study researches by providing them right study material based search results.

Don’t get confused between search results and papers because it will give you information but not the exact papers of any institute or university. Most of the study material provided by this search engine is available publicly. But it is good to have a search engine which will give you the exact results which are you looking. If you go by generic google search, you might get results which are not relevant for you. But it can filter results for you. People can also adjust filters and create custom alerts. The custom alerts would notify you when there’s a research available according to your project or requirement.

Google Patent ‘Search

As the word “Patent” represents, this search engine is based on patent searches. You can find out the patent searches by searching the inventor name. For example, if you put any keyword in patent search engine, you will get the real information and originator/inventor name of particular search. I searched for “SEO” and got Lary Kim on top. Google Shopping

Google shopping was previously known as Froogle. It is product based search engine where you can find only products. No blog, informative article or affiliate would interrupt your shopping. You can explore product only URL’s and enjoy your shopping without getting distracted.

The results are completely based on products which included local & online both places. However, you might see the list of online providers often and very less local providers. It happens because of lack of retail stores information. Inventory update, price changes and discount offers take time to get updated but most of the online providers provide information proactively. I know you could have complaints about this but this is how it works.

This looks like just a service of google but it can help users to keep a track on market without scrolling though thousands of links. You can get the instant stock updates, quotes and financial news. Most common question about Google News (https://news.google.com/) is, what’s the difference between news search and google news. Well the only difference is, you would news information by visiting google news. As you can see in the left hand side menu, we can customize our news search. It will only give us the latest news and right information instead of a blog post written by unknown blogger. We can customize my news search on the basis of our interest, location or requirement.

Google trends is the search engine for search engines. Seems pretty strange but yes it works like this. Earlier we used to call it Google Zeitgeist. After the rebranding, now we call it Google Trends. The basic role of Google Trends is to measure fluctuation and relative popularity of search terms over time. The trend searches could be based on recent trends according to location or any particular product or category. For example, Football/soccer is the most popular search during Fifa World cup.

You can search most of the lights on google flights. In order to provide better information to it’s users, google purchased “ITA” Google built this “Google Flights” by integrating ITA. You can save your time in exploring applications by using Google Trends. Most of the airline companies are sharing their data here. However, some airlines, like Southwest, opt not to participate in results.

People can custom their searches and get the latest information of flights, prices, flight duration, number of stops during flight journey and time of flight departure and arrival.

Google Books

Google books platform would help you to find out information about printed books and books in electronic format. You can find out a lot of free google e-book by using this book search engine. It can save your time and give you better search results. You can download, read or share books by using this.

Google Videos

The story of Google Video is very interesting. Google created this platform in competition with YouTube. But instead of building the platform, google end up with buying YouTube. It was announced in October 9, 2006, that google would buy YouTube and for US$1.65 billion in stock, which was completed on November 13 2006. Even after purchasing YouTube, Google didn’t gave up the idea of video sharing platform. They folded the video streaming features from Google Videos into YouTube and relaunched Google Videos as a video search engine. 

Now Google Video search engine is pretty cool platform. You can search a lot of videos from other streaming sites as well. Apart from YouTube you can get video results from Vimeo, Vine, and multiple other streaming video services.
